Parent Helper ("the app") is a personal, non-commercial iPhone app that helps a family member read and manage their Gmail. This policy explains exactly what Google user data the app accesses, why, how it is handled, and who it is shared with.
Google user data the app accesses
With the user's explicit consent granted through Google's standard OAuth consent screen, the app requests the following scopes:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly— read access to Gmail messages, threads, labels, and metadata.https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.modify— the ability to modify Gmail messages: mark as read/unread, archive, and apply or remove labels. This scope does not permit sending or composing email.https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email— the address of the signed-in Google account, used only to identify which mailbox the app is connected to.
Why the app needs this data
- Read (
gmail.readonly): to fetch email from the last 30 days and display it in a simplified, large-text interface, translated into Simplified Chinese and read aloud, so a parent who does not read English can understand their mail. - Modify (
gmail.modify): to keep the inbox manageable — marking messages as read or unread and organizing them with labels or archiving as the user acts on them.
The app is read-and-understand only. It does not send email or compose replies on the user's behalf.
How the data is used
Email content is used solely to provide the features above and shown to the user inside the app. Summarization and classification of email happen on the device using Apple's on-device Foundation Models; translation to Chinese happens on-device using Apple's Translation framework. Email content is never sent to any third-party or cloud AI service, and is not used for advertising, profiling, or training AI/ML models.
Processing, storage, and transmission
The app is local-first. Personal data is processed on-device only. Gmail data is requested directly from Google's Gmail API over the user's own authenticated connection; the only network calls the app makes for personal data are to Google's Gmail API for the user's own mailbox. The developer operates no server — email content is not uploaded to, stored on, or transmitted through any server operated by the developer or any third party.
To avoid re-downloading the whole mailbox, the app keeps a bounded local copy of recent messages (roughly the last 30 days) on the device to display them, and syncs incrementally after that. OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored securely in the device Keychain so the user does not have to sign in repeatedly. The user can revoke the app's access at any time from their Google Account permissions.
Who the data is shared with
Google user data is not shared with any third parties. The only parties involved are the user, their device, and Google's own Gmail API. The developer does not sell, rent, transfer, or otherwise disclose the user's Gmail data to anyone.
Data retention and deletion
Because email content is not stored on any server, there is nothing for the developer to delete on the user's behalf. The local copy of messages and the stored OAuth tokens are removed when the user signs out of the app, deletes the app, or revokes access via their Google Account.
Children's privacy
Parent Helper is a private app used by adults within one family and is not directed to children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.

处理、存储与传输
本应用以本地优先（local-first）为原则。个人数据仅在设备本机上处理。 Gmail 数据是通过用户自己的授权连接，直接向 Google 的 Gmail API 请求的； 本应用为个人数据发起的唯一网络请求，就是向 Google 的 Gmail API 访问用户自己的邮箱。 开发者没有运行任何服务器——邮件内容不会被上传到、存储在， 或经由开发者或任何第三方运营的任何服务器传输。
为了避免重复下载整个邮箱，本应用会在设备上保留最近邮件（大约最近 30 天）的一份有限本地副本用于显示， 之后只做增量同步。OAuth 访问令牌和刷新令牌会安全地存储在设备的 钥匙串（Keychain）中，这样用户就不必反复登录。 用户可随时在其 Google 账户权限设置中撤销本应用的访问权限。
数据会分享给谁

数据保留与删除

儿童隐私
Parent Helper 是一款供一个家庭内部成年人使用的私人应用，并非面向儿童。
